Clonakenny GAA are proud to reveal our new club crest. The crest is the result of a competition ran in conjunction with the Juvenile club through the primary school. The standard of entries received were very high however there was one entry which was exceptional. Therefore we would like to congratulate Conor Duff as the overall winner. Conor’s design exceeded all expectations and while it has been altered slightly in its development, the crest maintains Conor’s concept. We also have additional prize-winners and all will be presented in the coming weeks.

Many thanks to our talented IT Officer, Proinsias Matthews, for his professional work developing the crest. The new crest maintains the club colours of Black and Amber while also encompasses landmarks from the 2 sides of the parish of Bournea with both St Brigids and St Patrick’s churches symbolised by the cross and shamrock. The club’s founding year of 1905 is also captured on the crest.

In addition to the new crest, the club have also adopted Conor’s motto which the committee feel fully embodies the characteristics of the club:

Onóir (Honour) – it is a huge honour for players to represent this club and follow in the footsteps of others who have worn the black and amber over the last 116 years.
Meas (Respect) – the importance that each player has respect for themselves, their teammates, their supporters, officials and their community.
Cairdeas (Friendship) – the relationships developed with teammates from the time the first enter the club pitch as a juvenile all the way up past their retirement from the game. These are lifelong friendships.

We look forward to wearing the crest with pride going forward and hope it brings us continued success.
